The Rules!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BULLDOGS, THIS IS A TRUE STORY.
FOR THOSE THAT DON'T, IT IS STILL A TRUE STORY.

------------------------------------------------------------

The following was found posted very low on our refrigerator door:

Dear Tank, Harley, Mugsy & Taz:
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however, bulldogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, bark or try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness,
I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-BULLDOG OWNERS WHO VISIT
AND DARE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR BULLDOGS:

(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my bulldogs a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, bulldogs are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't smoke or drink,
(7) don't want to wear your clothes,
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ...

Stork Update!

Taz has really filled out these past few weeks. Her trim little waist is gone! I've been getting a lot of sleep and resting up for the birth. I feel a little guilty about all the lazy days of sleeping with the kids but we'll need this once the babies come and we don't get a whole lot of sleep for a while. It's so worth it though. We just pray every night that Taz will be safe and the babies will be born healthy and whole. We have the puppy nursery all done and the supplies bought. From here on out it's just the waiting game and keeping Taz as comfortable as possible. We sure love her and she's our little sweetheart, always has been!

Farley's Birthday Gifts

Farley got a new bed for his birthday on February 10th! He's pictured here watching the Dog Whisperer on TV and checking out a bulldog toy that was given to Mama Whitney for their new baby due to be born soon. Congratulations Zack and Whitney and we hope all goes well with the birth of baby Keith!

Delicate tummy

Lately Taz has had a delicate tummy. If she eats anything different it doesn't stay down for long. Poor baby. So we have spent a lot of time with the cleanings up of the comings out. I don't remember Harley or Mugs being this upset with their diets when they were pregnant. I've got Taz on a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice so she can get better, I just feel so bad for her. She wants to cuddle with me but whenever she gets on the bed she tosses her cookies and I have to wash all the bedding. I don't know who feels worse, her for having to be on the floor or me for having to see her sad little eyes look at me wondering what she did wrong to not be allowed on the bed. That's the worse part of being a pet owner. You can't "tell" them what is happening a lot of the time. I went through that when Harley had trouble when we sold her babies. I think if I could have talked with her she still would have yelled at me "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND??" You're going to sell my kids?????

Ya, so there you have it. I'm just hoping she gets better soon and isn't miserable anymore. She is such a sweet little girl. So far today she's kept down her rice and chicken. I know I worry a lot about her I just want so much for everything to run smoothly. She is such a sweet little girl and lately she's been my shadow. Everywhere I go she's right on my heels.

Taz is going to be a mother!

We are so thrilled to announce that Taz is going to have babies in March. Her ultrasound was today. She wiggled and didn't like it much but because she was so svelte and trim we got to see more of the babies than we ever have before. Dr. Geiselhardt said her uterus was easy to see since there is very little fat on Taz. I saw the babies rolling around and moving all over the place. They are VERY active in there!! I'd always wondered about that, if they moved around much when they were growing and today I found out they do! I let a few people know already but this is the general announcement! We are going to be grandparents again and feel extremely blessed. Taz will be a wonderful mother just like her mother Chloe and I'm just so tickled with this news!

Happy Birthday to our first puppies!!

Today our first litter of puppies last year turns one year old. So we want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Bella, Winnie, Lucie, Gracie, Maeve, Major, Farley & Phantom. We love you all very much.

Grandma Adele & Grandpa Craig

Hi Adele,

Thanks for the pictures. Danny and I have both already did a duet of “happy birthday” this morning for Gracie. She got in a birthday walk at noon. Tonight she will be spoiled rotten. She has been the light of our lives this past year. I cannot even think of not having her in our life. My husband is so taken with her it is comical. My friends and co-workers lover he even if they do think I spoil her to much. She is famous here at the courthouse! I even think someday when she gets a little older I may look into a certified therapy dog. That is what she does for us at home and here at the office. Everybody’s blood pressure lowers when she is around.

Thanks again. Give Harley and Tank a kiss and thank you too.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!! Winnie is getting extra spoiled today :) I've been trying to take pics of her in her birthday hat but she's not liking it. I have an appointment to get her pics done at a studio and I can't wait. I'll email her pics soon.

Love Kristen and Winnie

Phantom would like to wish a B-I-G happy birthday wish to all her brothers and sisters!

Happy Birthday All!

Going Car Car

I have to laugh whenever I look at this picture of my big guy, Tank. He looks like a huge gargoyle and he's at full attention! One thing he does that is so cute, and I love to do this to him because he's a nut when he hears it, is say the words, "Tank, wanna go car car?" He jumps out of his skin he is so excited to go for a ride in the car. I took him with me last night when I drove my daughter Taryn to school. She takes a class at the college every Tuesday night and it's nice to have Tank with me. I feel so much more secure with a big old bulldog riding shotgun. He stands in the middle of the two seats with his feet on the console so he's up high enough to check things out and see everything. When I ask him if he wants to go car car and he's in the back of the house he'll run so fast to the garage door that he slides half way down and does a full "Kramer" into the wall before he gets to the door. Now THAT is excitement!!! I giggle even now thinking about it. I promise I'll get it on video and post it on here. It's the funniest thing you'll ever see.

Waiting for Taz

It's been a tense couple of weeks waiting to see if Taz is pregnant. I've been watching her and comparing her to Harley and Mugsy but she's not a whole lot different from her usual spunky and wild self. So I'm not encouraged by this. I'm thinking the other girls were sleeping a lot and had less energy at this point in their progress. Taz is so different in every way from any other dog I've ever had though. She is strong and such a little character that she could be expecting and not even show. Every dog is different. I'm sure missing having babies around here and if we aren't going to have them then I'll have to wait until the end of the year this year because Harley won't be breeding this year and Mugsy won't go into heat again until this summer. That puts our next litter at Sept or Oct. Christmas babies again. Maybe the economy will have recovered a little by then and it won't be such a scary risk doing this. Although we didn't have much trouble finding wonderful homes for Harley's last litter.

I guess I'm more than a little prejudice but I think our babies are the most beautiful bulldog puppies I've ever seen anywhere. I'm the grandma though and that means they are my little perfect angels. hahahaha When we have human babies there is just something about "yours" that makes he or she the most beautiful baby ever born. I didn't think puppies would be the same way but it's the same for me. Every baby that is born is "mine" and they are so perfect and precious. I get to love them as mine for 8 wonderful weeks and sometimes it's hard but in other ways it's enough to know we are going to give this wonderful gift to someone when they are old enough to leave us.

So we are still waiting and watching. I really think Taz's babies will be beautiful and if we don't get a litter this time we'll try again in six months with her.
